Who they are?

NAMI Pinellas, a chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, works to improve the lives of those affected by mental illness. Founded by families in 1979, they provide education, support, and advocacy for individuals and families. Their goal is to raise awareness, increase access to resources, and build a supportive community where everyone can thrive.

Groups

NAMI support groups are free, quality, peer-led, community based and available in person and/or zoom. Many people struggle with mental health challenges, but help is available. NAMI offers free support groups led by people with similar experiences. These groups provide a safe and welcoming space to connect, share stories, and get support from your community.

  • For Individuals Living with Mental Illness

    • NAMI Adult Connection Recovery Support Group: NAMI’s confidential virtual support groups connect adults with mental health experiences. Share your struggles, learn from others, and find strength in a supportive, peer-led environment.

    • NAMI LGBTQ+ Connection Recovery Support Group: NAMI offers free LGBTQ+ support groups for adults with mental health conditions. Connect with peers who understand your experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

    • NAMI Pinellas Veteran Connection Recovery Support Group: NAMI Pinellas understands the unique challenges veterans face. Our free support groups connect veterans with mental health conditions, offering a safe space to share experiences and find support from fellow veterans.

    • NAMI Youth & Young Adult Connection Recovery Support Group: NAMI offers free virtual support groups for young adults (under 35) facing mental health challenges. Connect with peers, share experiences, and find hoping in a safe space.

  • For Family Members & Caregivers

    • NAMI Family Support Group: A free monthly support group for adult family members of love ones with mental illness. It’s a safe and confidential space to share experiences, gain insight from others, and develop coping skills. Led by trained family members, the group focuses on understanding mental illness, reducing stigma, and finding strength through shared experiences.

    • NAMI Pinellas’ P.O.W.E.R. Family Support Group: A free peer-led program designed for adult family members of individuals with a mental illness. The confidential group meetings provide a safe space to share experiences, gain support, and learn coping skills. Led by trained facilitators who have personal experience, the groups help families navigate mental illness, develop empathy, and find strength.

    • NAMI Real Talk on Mental Wellness Support Group: This free, monthly support group is led by peers for adults identifying as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). It provides a confidential space to discuss mental health, challenge stereotypes, and build resilience.

    • NAMI Surviving Suicide Loss Support Group: Are you grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide? This NAMI support group offers a safe and confidential space for family, caregivers, and friends to connect with others who understand. Share your experiences, find comfort, and get the support you need during this difficult time.

While Boley Centers offers many groups some member may not be able to attend these for whateve reason. The important thing is that members have access to support they need in their recovery. Consumer Advocacy Council wants all our members to thrive.
